Meandering Pamphlet Book

This hybrid book structure combines the meandering elements of an accordion with pamphlet stitched signatures. Interwoven between the decorative boards are four mini books to be filled with content. The book can be displayed in multiple orientations showing the signatures, the decorative paper of the accordion boards or stack in a neat block.  Papers may vary from image. 

Class time: 3 hrs

The Dragon Scale Binding, sometimes referred to as a Whirlwind binding is an ancient Chinese book structure dating back to the Tang Dynasty.  When assembled, the pages are layered which allows them to flip, showing an image on the reverse.  Participants in this workshop will select two images to use when creating their book. 

All materials are included.

Exquisite Corpse Workshop

The ‘exquisite corpse’ game is a drawing activity where each participant takes a turn creating a part of the drawing without knowing what the others have added until the finished drawing is revealed at the end. In this workshop, participants will construct a book that features numerous ways to arrange the flaps to create myriad of images or text combinations. Examples of artist’s books that use this unique structure will be presented along with ideas for content creation and materials to help get you started on your own projects.
